Director's Inspiration
I wanted to put the hearts of children thinking of their parents even in adult into this film.
Synopsis
In 1960, Hapcheon, South Gyeongsang Province. The little boy, who lives alone with his father, must go to the far eastern village on his father's makgeolli errand. It takes more than an hour for the boy to come back home by crossing a mountain and running.
The boy, exhausted and thirsty from running, swallows hard and opens a lid on the kettle. But the boy soon recalls his father's earnest words. ""Chun-sung, if you drink now, you will become stu-pid. Let's enjoy together when you grow up""., then he gave the boy his precious necklace as a gift. After a moment of thought, the boy swallows his saliva again and starts running home with the kettle closed.
Time passed and the boy became a gray-haired old man. The old boy climbs the hill of Mount Hwangmae to visit his father's tomb. And he fills a cup of makgeolli that his father loved so much in his life. Saying softly, “Father…”, the boy keeps missing him but unanswered. thinking about his father's drink….
